Matteo’s 2nd birthday

On Friday, March 11, we celebrated Matteo’s birthday. He was fortunate this year; his birthday fell on a weekday. Our family-only tradition has been to celebrate weekday birthdays at Fenton’s Creamery. This year, Grandma Johnie, David and Aunt Jessica joined the festivities. As usual, we had a great time – the calm before the storm!

The following day we celebrated with 21 of Matteo’s friends and family, including our very special guest, Mommy Sara. She joined us around 2pm, and stayed till about 8pm. We cannot begin to express our gratitude for her willingness to maintain contact. Sadly, Grandma Kathi and great-Grandma Dot (aka GDot) could not join us; both were sick. Interestingly enough, we almost cancelled. For most of the week leading up to the party, Christopher had been ill.

So what’s new? Matteo is still mastering going to the toilet. He has been quite the trooper! His verbal skills exploded with full-on sentences – still waters run deep! The other morning, from his crib, we hear, “Daddy, my nose is leaving!” Poor thing had a runny nose.

Too long since our last post

But, frankly, we are very busy with, well, life.

Matteo is doing very well with his potty training. He wears pull-ups every day and sits on the toilet or stands next to it to do his business. Though we are quite pleased with his progress, he is still working on mastering the poop part. Sometimes we make it, sometimes we don’t.

Matteo turns two in a couple of weeks. Has it really been two years? In May, Christopher turns four. Time certainly flies…

Christopher seems to have hit a milestone of his own. He no longer throws a fit when we go to school in the morning. Of course, now that I write this, he will regress. Ugh. Seriously, though, he has been very mature about it.

They are married

After Christopher finished breakfast, and while Matteo was still finishing up with his breakfast, Christopher pulled out his two dogs. Lately has taken quite an interest in “walking” his dogs. This morning he said, “Look, Daddy.” “These are my two married doggies.” When I asked their names, he responded, “Perry and Chalkie”. “They are honeys.”

We were invited by another couple, who has 3-year-old boy-girl twins, to join them in an adventure at the Clayton pumpkin patch. What an adventure…The drive was twice that of what we normally drive to go to Moore’s Pumpkin Patch in Castro Valley. No problem, though, ’cause we got some great pics.

The potty diaries – October 13, 2010

I am not sure if we are jinxing ourselves by starting the diary this soon, but today Matteo said, “pee-pee”, which honestly I wasn’t sure if that meant he had to go to the potty. We haven’t really been taking him regularly; on occasion, we sit him down on the toilet, usually at bath time. However, today, after stating as much, he started to squat. I quickly ran him to the toilet where he peed a little, and pooped a lot!

I hope we are on our way to a daytime diaper-free household.

Woohoo!

Of course, as a proud parent, I had to capture the moment. Gotta love the iPhone…

What a big mouth you have

A few days ago, the boys and I made pasta with broccoli and chicken in a red sauce – actually, I made the dinner, they watched. While we were eating, I was twirling the spaghetti around the tines of my fork, and Christopher commented on the rather large size of the bite. Before I could finish my reply, “I know,” he followed with, “that’s okay, Daddy, you have a big mouth.”

I laughed hysterically…

Could it be possible that he knows what a double entendre is?

On Wednesday, Christopher, Mike and I joined our friends, Duffy and Alec for an afternoon game at the Giants ballpark for a game against the Marlins. I must say that Christopher enjoyed his first adventure to the ballpark. Mike and I enjoyed watching him. We took many photos, so here are a few of those…

Are we there yet?

Yesterday, Christopher and I took David to Great America for his 10th birthday. We had such a great time. The funniest part was hearing Christopher say, “Are we there yet?” at least 10 times before we got on the freeway!
