Stubborn teeth

Matteo is nearly 11 months, but only has two teeth. For months now, we have been waiting for new ones. While we were eating breakfast this morning, I was able to get my fingers in his mouth to check. Looks like the new one on the bottom may break through any day. We noticed a little white bump at least a week ago. Previous to that, the lower gums were very swollen. Much to my surprise, there are at least two on top that seem to have broken through the gum line. Poor little thing…

Happy Halloween

Mike and I find great joy in Halloween. Back in the day, we would put much thought into what costumes we would wear on that one special night. Though we no longer hang out at the all-too-popular-and-sometimes-dangerous Halloween party in the Castro, we hang in our own ‘hood, which consists of older, married couples, younger couples with children, and gay and lesbian couples. Our evening agenda includes trick-or-treating for less than an hour, and spending the rest of the evening at home with a few friends as we hand out candy to witches, goblins, ninjas, princesses, and superheros.

Last week, we went to the Oakland Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo event where Christopher, who dressed in his blue, three-eyed, four-armed monster costume, walked around collecting stamps for a prize. Last weekend, we took my nephew David to the pumpkin patch. We plan to spend Halloween evening with Alec and his mommies, Randy and Katie and their daddy, my mom, and our nephew, David.

We plan to take many more pictures. In the meantime, enjoy these.

Even though we adopted our second son, Matteo, in March, we continue to monitor our site statistics. Frankly, I want to see how popular we are. Well, I was shocked to see that visits to our website and/or blog continue to drop since March. I guess I will just have to do better at posting more…or posting more interesting blogs!

Finding time to blog

Today has been quite an exception. I have posted three blogs, including this one! I am trying to get into my new groove. I wait until Christopher is napping and Matteo is peaceful – incidentally, they don’t seem to nap at the same time…lucky me. Yet, each time I sit down to write, Matteo gets restless. Could this restlessness be similar to that displayed by children who need their parents’ attention just as dad (or mom) get on the phone? I wonder…

Anyway, this time is no different. Christopher is busy watching an episode of The Backyardigans, and Matteo is quietly resting in the BabyBjorn attached to my chest. But wait…daddy is busy. Let me get his attention.

In the meantime, I wanted to share this video of our newest arrival. I created this video from a collection of videos we shot during Matteo’s first couple of days of life.
